In accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards and in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals TCI Sanmar launches the Fourth GRI Sustainability Report entitled “Road to Green Production”

Cairo – TCI Sanmar Chemicals, the largest producer of caustic soda in Egypt and the largest manufacturer of Polyvinyl Chloride in the MENA region, announced the official release of its fourth sustainability report entitled “Road to Green Production”, which was developed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, and in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the national sustainable development strategy ‘Egypt Vision 2030’. During a top management meeting the report was released, and Mr. P.S. Jayaraman presented the report to H.E. Eng. Sameh Fahmy, former Minister of Petroleum and Major General Mustafa Al-Behairy, who are also Board Members of TCI Sanmar, in the presence of Mr. S Ganeshkumar, Managing Director of the company.

The report highlighted the remarkable achievements made by TCI Sanmar as part of its sustainable performance during the FY March 2022. It indicated all round improvement in the performance of the company aligned with adoption of high environmental standards. The report records reduction of carbon footprint as also water consumption in comparison to the previous year’s operations. It referred to adding a renewable energy course to show the company’s commitment to sustainable development guidelines from a capacity building perspective as well as from best practices application. 

On this occasion, P.S. Jayaraman – Chairman, TCI Sanmar Chemicals, expressed pride of the breakthroughs and achievements made during the year 2021- 22, which he described as an ‘extraordinary’ year.  “This year marked a significant milestone for TCI Sanmar. The company managed to overcome challenging times, which included overall cost increases particularly in freight and transportation, lower production of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), due to technical issues that cropped up in Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) operations. However, we have managed to turn operations around and develop customized and innovative products and technologies to suit the complex needs of our customers”

“We understand that our customers seek more sustainable solutions, thus, we successfully introduced two more PVC grades: K value 57 (K-57) for fittings and K value 70 (K-70) for cables. With the ongoing production of K value 67 (K-67) for pipes, the company is now manufacturing all three PVC grades. This goes a long way to meet and exceed customers’ expectations.” he added.

Mr. Jayaraman concluded to pledge on implementing a new development philosophy effectively and robustly to achieve sustainable development in harmony with the environment, society, and stakeholders.

From his end, S Ganeshkumar, TCI Sanmar Managing Director, said: “TCI Sanmar has invested USD 1.5 billion in two phases, turning the company into a world-class manufacturing facility for producing Caustic Soda, PVC, and Calcium Chloride Granules. Today, TCI Sanmar enjoys a powerful reputation and prominent position as the largest integrated producer of Caustic Soda and PVC in the entire MENA region with state-of-the-art technologies and consistent value creation.”

Furthermore, the report underscored TCI Sanmar’s future plans under its sustainability strategy, and shedding light on environmental, social, and economic aspects given the crucial need to integrate them within it’s the company’s functions.  The report also highlighted the urge for waste reduction and lowering emissions in order to minimize the environmental impact of chemical processing and manufacturing and ensure the maximum level of human and environmental protection.

The report positioned TCI Sanmar at the forefront of companies adapting to green, sustainable production within its operations. The company became the first in the MENA and African region to tap into unconventional ways to produce fossil fuel-dependent PVC. It also became the first petrochemical industry to issue an environmental product declaration for PVC.

It is worth mentioning that TCI Sanmar is one of few petrochemical companies in the MENA region that publishes an annual sustainability report, in compliance with the GRI standards and guidelines.

القاهرة – أصدرت شركة تي سي آي سنمار للكيماويات، أكبر شركة منتجة للصودا الكاوية في مصر وأكبر شركة منتجة لمادة البولي فينيل كلورايد في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، تقريرها الرابع للاستدامة بعنوان “الطريق نحو الإنتاج الأخضر” والذي يأتي متوافقًا مع معايير المبادرة العالمية لإعداد التقارير (GRI)، وتماشيًا مع أهداف التنمية المستدامة للأمم المتحدة وكذا استراتيجية التنمية المستدامة “رؤية مصر 2030″، وذلك خلال اجتماع لقيادات الشركة حيث قام الأستاذ بي اس جايارامان، رئيس مجلس الإدارة، بتسليم التقرير لكلا من المهندس سامح فهمي، معالي وزير البترول الأسبق وعضو مجلس إدارة الشركة، واللواء مصطفى البحيري، عضو مجلس إدارة الشركة، بحضور الأستاذ إس جانيش كومار، العضو المنتدب لشركة تي سي أي سنمار.

سلط التقرير الضوء على الإنجازات التي حققها تي سي آي سنمار للكيماويات فيما يتعلق بأداء الاستدامة لديها خلال العام المالي المنتهي في مارس 2022. إذ أشار إلى التحسن الشامل في أداء الشركة بما يتماشى مع اعتماد معايير بيئية قياسية، مسجلًا خفض البصمة الكربونية واستهلاك المياه مقارنة بعمليات العام الماضي. وأضاف تقرير هذا العام دور الطاقة المتجددة، مبرزًا التزام الشركة الراسخ بإرشادات التنمية المستدامة من منظور بناء القدرات، إلى جانب انتهاج أفضل الممارسات.

بهذه المناسبة، أعرب السيد/ بي إس جايارامان، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة تي سي آي سنمار للكيماويات، عن فخره بالإنجازات والنجاحات التي حققتها الشركة خلال العام المالي 2021-2022، واصفًا إياه بعام استثنائي، قائلًا: “يعد هذا العام علامة فارقة لشركة تي سي آي سنمار، إذ تمكنت الشركة من تجاوز الأوقات العصيبة بما في ذلك زيادة التكاليف الإجمالية لا سيما الشحن والنقل، وانخفاض إنتاج البولي فينيل كلوريد (PVC) نتيجة للمشكلات الفنية التي ظهرت في العمليات التشغيلية لعمليات أنتاج مونومر كلوريد الفينيل (VCM). على الرغم من ذلك، تمكنا من تدبر العمليات التشغيلية وتطوير منتجات وتقنيات مبتكرة ومخصصة لتلبية احتياجات عملائنا.”

وأضاف جايارامان: “وانطلاقًا من فهمنا لاحتياجات العملاء المتزايدة لحلول أكثر استدامة، نجحنا في تقديم نوعين إضافيان من البولي فينيل كلوريد، وهما: K value 57 (K-57) و K value 70 (K-70) للكابلات، إلى جانب مواصلة إنتاج K value 67 (K-67) لتصنيع المواسير، وبذلك تكون الشركة متميزة في تصنيع كل درجات البولي فينيل كلوريد الثلاثة. وقد قطعنا هذا الشوط الكبير من أجل تلبية احتياجات عملائنا وتجاوز توقعاتهم.”

وقد اختتم السيد جيارامان حديثه متعهدًا بتبني نهج إنمائي جديد يتميز بالفعالية اللازمة لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة في تناغم بين محاور البيئة والمجتمع وأصحاب المصلحة.

ومن جانبه، قال السيد/ إس جانيش كومار، العضو المنتدب لشركة تي سي آي سنمار للكيماويات: “لقد استثمرت الشركة 1.5 مليار دولار على مرحتلين، مما حولها إلى منشأة تصنيع عالمية لإنتاج الصودا الكاوية وبولي فينيل كلوريد وكلوريد الكالسيوم. وتتمتع الشركة اليوم بسمعة قوية ومكانة رائدة بوصفها أكبر شركة منتجة للصودا الكاوية وبولي فينيل كلوريد في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وإفريقيا مستخدمةً أحدث التقنيات مع خلق قيمة متسقة.”

علاوة على ذلك، أكد التقرير على الخطط المستقبلية لشركة تي سي آي سنمار في إطار استراتيجية الاستدامة لديها، مسلطًا الضوء على المحاور البيئية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية بوصفها محاور هامة لا بد من دمجها في مهام الشركة. كما أبرز التقرير الحاجة إلى الحد من النفايات وخفض الانبعاثات بهدف تقليل التأثير البيئي للمعالجة الكيميائية والتصنيع وضمان أقصى مستوى من الحماية سواء للعنصر البشري أو البيئة.

وضع التقرير شركة تي سي آي سنمار في طليعة الشركات التي تتكيف مع الإنتاج الأخضر والمستدام ضمن عملياتها التشغيلية. إذ أصبحت أول شركة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا تستفيد من النُهُج غير التقليدية لإنتاج بولي فينيل الكلوريد المعتمد على الوقود الأحفوري، كما أصبحت أول مصنِّع بتروكيماويات يحصل علي شهادة الإفصاح البيئي لمنتج بولي فينيل الكلوريد.
